Requirements

• You are in possession of all required documents. • For applying in person: appointment scheduling You can arrange a Termin (appointment) with the Kfz-Zulassungsbehörde (motor vehicle registration authority) via the appointment booking system or at [email protected]. • For the online application: The vehicle must be registered in Berlin. • For the online application: The license plates must be fitted with stamp seals (Stempelplaketten) and security codes that can be uncovered. • For the online application: The Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil I (vehicle registration certificate part I) must have a security code that can be uncovered on the back. • For the online application: Consent to the electronic payment procedure The following payment methods are available to you: • Credit card (Visa, Mastercard) • PayPal

Documents you need

• Application for deregistration of a vehicle (Antrag auf Außerbetriebsetzung eines Fahrzeugs) with complete documents You can submit the application either online or in person. • Certificate of Registration Part I (Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil I), if available, with trailer register • If applicable, vehicle registration document (Fahrzeugschein), if available, with trailer register and vehicle title (Fahrzeugbrief) for vehicles registered before 2005 • both license plates, or the license plate in the case of a motorcycle or light motorcycle • If a third person presents all required documents, that person is considered authorized.

Fees

• 17.10 Euro: for taking the vehicle out of service in person • 3.30 Euro: for taking the vehicle out of service via online application • An additional 2.60 Euro if you want to reserve the previous license plate for re-registration of this vehicle
