Re-register a motor vehicle - after moving to Berlin

• Moved to Berlin You have moved to Berlin. You are now registered here with your main residence (Haupt-Wohnsitz). An appointment (Termin) is required. The name you give when booking the appointment must be the name of the future keeper - even if someone else is to represent the keeper at this appointment.

• Application for re-registration from outside [Berlin] without change of owner • SEPA direct debit mandate (not required if you keep your previous license plate) • Identity document Your Personalausweis (identity card) or your passport with Meldebescheinigung (registration certificate); • If the vehicle is registered in your own name: proof of your residence, either through your Personalausweis (identity card) or through your passport and Meldebescheinigung (registration certificate) (or an officially certified copy). • If the vehicle is to be registered to a company or association with its registered office or a branch in Berlin: copy/copies of the identity document(s) of the management • Gewerbe-Anmeldung (business registration) (If the vehicle is to be registered to a company with its registered office or a branch in Berlin) • Extract from the Handelsregister (commercial register) (If the vehicle is to be registered to a company with its registered office or a branch in Berlin) • for a GmbH & Co. KG, the Handelsregister (commercial register) extract of the GmbH is also required • Extract from the Vereinsregister (register of associations) (If the vehicle is to be registered to an association with its registered office or a branch in Berlin) • In the case of authorization or representation, including for companies or associations: an informal power of attorney and identity document If you do not come in person: • written power of attorney • identity document of the person representing you, • your identity document (except in the case of a notarized or certified power of attorney) This also applies to companies and associations if the authority to represent is not evident from the Gewerbe-Anmeldung (business registration) or a register extract. • For minor owners: consent and identity documents of the parents/legal guardians • HU-Prüfbericht (main inspection test report) (if due) Proof of a current Hauptuntersuchung (HU, main vehicle inspection), for example • through the Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil I (registration certificate part I), if the Hauptuntersuchung entered there is still valid, or • through the test report for the most recent Hauptuntersuchung • Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil I (registration certificate part I) / Fahrzeugschein (vehicle registration document) • Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil II (registration certificate part II) / Fahrzeugbrief (vehicle title) / Betriebserlaubnis (operating permit) (for vehicles exempt from registration) For a new Berlin license plate: Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil II or Fahrzeugbrief or Betriebserlaubnis. If the vehicle is still registered and you keep your previous license plate, submitting the ZBII (registration certificate part II) is not necessary. If a new Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil II has not yet been issued for your vehicle, the Fahrzeugbrief must generally be submitted. • old license plates (if available) Not required for a vehicle that has been taken off the road, or for a vehicle that is still registered where you wish to keep the license plate.

17.50 euros: Basic fee plus further fees within the scope of registration, e.g. for technical modifications, particulate filter sticker, personalized number plate, etc. The production of the number plates is not a service provided by the Kfz-Zulassungsbehörde Berlin (Berlin vehicle registration authority).
