Found items can be handed in at all Bürgerämter (citizens' offices) throughout the city as well as at the Zentrales Fundbüro Berlin (Central Lost Property Office Berlin). Outside their opening hours, found items can also be handed in at the local stations (Abschnitte) of the Berlin Police. Items found within public authorities must be handed over to the building management of the respective authority. The find is reported there and a Fundrechtserklärung (declaration of finder's rights) is recorded. In the event of a successful return, a finder's reward (Finderlohn) may be claimed.
