Requirements

• Minimum age 16½ years The application can be submitted at the earliest at 16½ years of age. • Consent of the parents/legal guardians Consent of the parents/legal guardians is required for the application and for naming the accompanying persons. • Accompaniment Until the 18th birthday, driving is only permitted together with a registered accompanying person. • Requirements for the accompanying persons The accompanying person • must have reached the age of 30, • must have held a class B driving licence, or an equivalent German, EU/EEA or Swiss driving licence, continuously for at least five years, • must not have more than one point on record in the Fahreignungsregister (register of driving offences) at the time of application. • Personal appearance (in-person visit) is required • Main residence in Berlin If Berlin is a secondary residence, the application can only be submitted in justified exceptional cases and with the consent of the authority at the main residence.
