Requirements
• The marriage has already been certified (beurkundet) by the Standesamt (registry office) in whose district the marriage was concluded.
• You are entitled to apply for the certificate
The certificate can be applied for by:
• both spouses
• a person who is a direct-line relative of the persons named in the certificate (parents, children, grandparents, grandchildren)
• persons who can credibly demonstrate a legal interest
• persons who hold a power of attorney
