Towed vehicle - Obtain information

Towing away incorrectly parked vehicles is also referred to as "Umsetzung" (relocation/towing). Vehicles are towed when concrete dangers to public safety or order arise, in particular where this risks endangering or obstructing traffic. A towing action can be ordered independently by the police, the Ordnungsämter (public order offices), and the BVG (Berlin public transport company), each within their own area of responsibility (Zuständigkeit). As a rule, the towing itself is carried out by private towing companies. If your vehicle has been towed, you can contact the Auskunfts- und Fahndungsstelle (Information and Search Office) of the Berlin Police by phone to find out the new location of your vehicle. The Auskunfts- und Fahndungsstelle will give you information on relocated or impounded vehicles as well as on the new location of your vehicle.
