Vehicle registration plates - replacement after theft or loss

The police report must be submitted here. • Eidesstattliche Versicherung – license plate (affidavit) If you lose a license plate, an affidavit (Versicherung an Eides statt) must be submitted (under "Forms"). If both license plates are lost, or if the vehicle by design has only one license plate, a fee-liable affidavit must be administered in person.

The fee is based on the Gebührenordnung für Maßnahmen im Straßenverkehr (fee schedule for road traffic measures), as amended, and amounts, in the most favorable case, to EUR 31.20. Please note that this fee may be higher depending on the individual case - this depends on the specific application submitted.
