Extension of a driving licence (Fahrerlaubnis) to a driving licence of classes D1, D1E, D, DE (buses). Apply for the driver qualification certificate (Fahrerqualifizierungsnachweis, FQN) when extending the driving licence to vehicle class D Trainee and established professional drivers (Berufskraftfahrerinnen und Berufskraftfahrer) can apply for the necessary driver qualification certificate together with their application to extend the driving licence. The FQN serves as proof of professional driver qualification and replaces the entry of code "95" in the driving licence (Führerschein). Requirements

• Main residence (Hauptwohnsitz) in Berlin If Berlin is your secondary residence (Nebenwohnsitz), the application can only be submitted in justified exceptional cases and with the consent of the authority responsible for your main residence. • Minimum age The application can be submitted at the earliest 6 months before reaching the minimum age. • Personal appearance is required

Paper photos are not printed on site. • Presentation of your existing driving licence (Führerschein) In addition, a copy of the driving licence, if it was not issued in Berlin. Fees

• 45.10 euros: Application to extend a driving licence (Fahrerlaubnis) • 6.32 euros: Direct dispatch of the driving licence (Führerschein) (delivery by registered mail/mailbox drop. This requires that the addressee's name is shown on the mailbox.) Who is responsible

The extension of a driving licence (Fahrerlaubnis) to cover class D should be applied for at a Berlin Bürgeramt (citizens' office), since that is the only place where the required Führungszeugnis (certificate of good conduct) can be applied for at the same time.
