Requirements

Who is responsible

At the start of the asylum procedure, benefits are granted centrally through the Landesamt für Flüchtlingsangelegenheiten und Unterbringung (State Office for Refugee Affairs and Accommodation). Further benefits under the AsylbLG (Asylum Seekers' Benefits Act) may follow through the Ämter für Soziales (social welfare offices), unless - depending on the status or outcome of the asylum procedure - there is an entitlement to benefits under Book Two of the Sozialgesetzbuch (Social Code, SGB II).
