• Wechselkennzeichen (transferable license plates) can be assigned when registering two vehicles • a) to the same registered keeper (Halter), and • b) of the same class (see Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil I (vehicle registration certificate, part I), field "J"): M1 (vehicle for the transport of passengers with up to 8 seats), L, or O1, and • c) with the same number and dimensions of license plates • Wechselkennzeichen (transferable license plates) may not be assigned for • Saisonkennzeichen (seasonal license plates) • Rote Kennzeichen (red license plates) • Kurzzeitkennzeichen (short-term license plates) • Behördenkennzeichen (authority license plates) • Ausfuhrkennzeichen (export license plates)
