Hearing diagnostics for children and adolescents suspected of having a hearing disorder, and advice/support for families with hearing-impaired children

Comprehensive examination/counselling/care for children and adolescents with a hearing disorder or suspected hearing disorder, to rule out a hearing disorder in cases of delayed speech development, in cases of suspected Auditory Processing and Perception Disorder (APD), or where deafness or hearing impairment runs in the family. Depending on need, the following examinations and measures may be carried out: • ENT medical examination and findings report • Newborn hearing screening • Age-appropriate subjective hearing tests, such as Distraction audiometry Play audiometry Speech audiometry • Objective hearing tests, such as OAE measurement (otoacoustic emissions) BERA (brainstem evoked response audiometry) • Interdisciplinary diagnostics of auditory processing and perception abilities • Initiation of hearing aid provision and regular follow-up examinations of hearing-impaired children • Counselling on cochlear implant provision and referral to surgical and rehabilitative facilities • Early educational support for hearing-impaired children and their families from specialists in education for the hearing-impaired • Speech therapy diagnostics for hearing-impaired children and counselling for their families • Psychological diagnostics for hearing-impaired children and counselling for their families • Advice on social law matters for families of hearing-impaired children and initiation of social assistance • Counselling for deaf families with the involvement of a sign language interpreter
