Straßensondernutzung (special use of public streets) - Apply to install advertising display boards (Werbestelltafeln)

Permission to erect advertising boards requires approval, because the Straßenverkehrsordnung (StVO – Road Traffic Regulations) prohibits placing obstacles on the street where this could endanger or impede traffic. It is also prohibited to offer goods and services of any kind on the street where this could distract or inconvenience road users in a way that endangers or impedes traffic. The Straßenverkehrsbehörde (road traffic authority) may grant exemptions from these prohibitions in certain individual cases or generally for certain applicants. • An approved installation is permitted only during opening hours, directly in front of one's own business, at a maximum depth of 1.50 m from the building wall (Anliegergebrauch – adjacent-property use rights). • Advertising boards may be no more than 1.20 m high and 0.80 m wide. • The installation must not obstruct pedestrian traffic.
