Severe disability - Apply for accompanying assistance in working life for employees

Providing supplementary assistance in working life (Begleitende Hilfe im Arbeitsleben) is one of the main tasks of the Integrationsamt (integration office). In Berlin, the Integrationsamt has been called the Inklusionsamt (inclusion office) since 01.11.2021. The supplementary assistance is intended to ensure that severely disabled people: • do not decline in their social standing, • are employed in jobs where they can make full use of their abilities and knowledge and continue to develop them • and are enabled, through benefits from rehabilitation agencies and measures taken by employers, to hold their own in the workplace and in competition with non-disabled people. Supplementary assistance in working life for employees comprises: • Technical work aids, • Assistance in reaching the workplace, • Benefits for economic self-employment, • Housing assistance for obtaining, furnishing and maintaining housing that meets the special needs of the severely disabled person, • Benefits for maintaining working capacity, • Benefits for participation in measures to maintain and expand professional knowledge and skills, • Assistance in special life situations, • Supported employment, as well as any necessary work assistance (Arbeitsassistenz)
