Straßensondernutzung (special use of public streets) - Apply for advertising on lamp posts

• Selection of signs Only advertising that refers to business operations and other establishments, or information signs referring to cultural, sporting and other events in the interest of Berlin, is permitted. Sexist, discriminatory content, or content glorifying war or violence, is prohibited. • Prohibition of advertising No advertising signs may be attached to light poles on which traffic signs or traffic equipment are mounted. This also applies to light poles on which advertising may not be attached for other reasons. The same applies to light poles in the core areas of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, in heritage conservation areas (Denkmalbereiche) or in the immediate vicinity of protected monuments, as well as in areas with preservation ordinances (Erhaltungsverordnungen) under § 172 para. 1 sentence 1 no. 1 BauGB (Building Code), light poles on Kurfürstendamm and the street Unter den Linden, the Forum Fridericianum and the Humboldtforum, light poles of significance to the cityscape (e.g. the Friedrichstadtleuchte and the light poles on Alexanderplatz), reproductions of historic light poles (e.g. the Paulickleuchte), preserved originals (e.g. the Speerleuchte), candelabra of various designs, Bündelpfeilermasten (bundled-pillar masts) and similarly designed masts, as well as gas masts, wooden masts and concrete masts." • Spacing Advertising signs may only be attached to every second light pole on the same side of the street. • Format of unilluminated signs The advertising company may only install one specific model (illuminated or unilluminated). • Format of backlit signs Backlit signs are permitted with outer dimensions of 70 cm x 100 cm and visible advertising dimensions of 56 cm x 83 cm.

• Application submission The company "mediateam Stadtservice GmbH" provides information. They submit an informal application in duplicate stating the size of the advertising installation, together with photographs of the location.

Special usage fees (Sondernutzungsgebühren) apply for locations owned by the State of Berlin. Additional costs may arise if you want to place advertising on lamp posts yourself. Billing is handled directly with the company "mediateam Stadtservice GmbH" under a simplified procedure.
