• The German party to the marriage has never resided in or been registered in Germany. If the German party to the marriage was ever resident in or registered in Germany (including as a child), responsibility for issuing the Ehefähigkeitszeugnis (certificate of no impediment to marriage) lies with the Standesamt (registry office) of the last domestic place of residence. • Evidence must be enclosed with the application in original form or as a certified copy. Simple copies or electronically transmitted documents are unfortunately not sufficient.
