• Insolvency (inability to pay) www.berlin.de/polizei/aufgaben/bussgeldstelle/zahlungsmodali For final, non-appealable and enforceable notices, payment in installments or deferral is possible, provided that insolvency (inability to pay) is proven. • Payment facilitations cannot be granted for Verwarnungsgelder (warning fines). • For enforcement detention (Erzwingungshaft) proceedings already pending before the Amtsgericht Tiergarten (Tiergarten Local Court), applications for payment facilitation must be directed there. • Submitting an application for deferral or payment in installments does not suspend enforcement of legally binding claims. Enforcement measures are halted only once the deferral or payment in installments has been approved.

• Application for payment facilitation Payment facilitation is reviewed on the basis of your written application. An informal application must be brought to your appointment (Termin) or can be submitted in writing (by post, e-mail or fax). The case reference number of the relevant proceeding must always be stated. • Proof of identity Personalausweis (identity card), passport, substitute passport documents for foreign nationals • Proof of inability to pay To be granted a payment facilitation, you must bring supporting documents (e.g. proof of salary, pension notice, evidence of other payment obligations…) showing your financial circumstances.
