• Planning the visit, registration Please note that making an appointment (Terminvereinbarung) is essential. For organizational reasons, Tuesdays and Thursdays are not available as visiting days. Please call the Amtsgericht Tiergarten (Tiergarten Local Court) at least 2 weeks before the intended appointment. To make scheduling the appointment easier, you should if possible have two or three alternative dates ready. The meeting point on the day of the visit will be communicated to you at registration. You will learn the courtroom on site. • Supervisor and group size Each class (maximum 20 pupils) must be accompanied by an adult supervisor. If a class consists of more than 20 pupils, a second adult supervisor is required, since for reasons of space the class must be split up among different hearings. • Entry: meeting point and time The class must arrive at the meeting point at least 30 minutes before the hearing begins, since the entry checks can cause longer waiting times. • Entry: security measures Every person is checked when entering the building. The checks serve to establish identity. For this reason, every person must present a valid official photo ID when entering the building. • Please note: • Objects that could be misused for physical attacks or for disrupting court hearings may not be brought into the building. In particular, tools, scissors, knives, firearms, glass and gas bottles, gas sprays, alarm clocks, CD and MP3 players, cans, bicycle pumps, whistles, and radios are prohibited. • Bringing mobile phones of any kind is permitted. However, it is prohibited to use them in the courtroom. • If a violation of the Waffengesetz (Weapons Act) is suspected, criminal charges will be filed.
