Activities involving pathogens - Applying for a permit

• Expertise in handling pathogens The applicant must provide proof of their expertise. • Proof of reliability The applicant must not have shown themselves to be unreliable with regard to working with pathogens. • Personal appearance Under certain conditions, a personal appearance is required. You may receive an invitation after your submitted documents have been reviewed. • Residence in Berlin The applicant must have their main residence in Berlin

• Appropriate university degree Certified copy or original for presentation in person of proof of completion of a degree in human medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, or completion of a degree in natural sciences at a Fachhochschule (university of applied sciences) or university with microbiological content. • Two years of work with pathogens Certified copy or original for presentation in person of proof of at least two years of full-time professional work with pathogens under the supervision of a person who holds a permit to work with pathogens. Alternatively, at least two years of other full-time professional work in the field of bacteriology, mycology, parasitology, or virology may also be recognized as proof of expertise (Sachkundenachweis). The work content, the pathogens handled, and the risk group of the pathogens must be evident from the proof. • Permit of the supervising person Certified copy or original for presentation in person of the permit to work with pathogens under § 44 IfSG (Infektionsschutzgesetz, Infection Protection Act) held by the person under whose supervision the work was carried out • Basic certificate of good conduct (Führungszeugnis) service.berlin.de/dienstleistung/120926/ Certified copy or original for presentation in person of the basic certificate of good conduct (einfaches Führungszeugnis). • Proof of identity Certified copy or original for presentation in person of the identity card (Personalausweis) or passport • Curriculum vitae of the applicant A curriculum vitae may be added to the application to make it easier to assess the expertise acquired.
