Requirements

• Application You will receive the compensation (Vergütung) only upon application (Antrag). You can submit your written application • by post to the Berechnungsstelle (compensation office) of the Amtsgericht Tiergarten (Tiergarten Local Court), • by dropping it in the mailbox of the Berechnungsstelle (old building, room A 236), • at the Geschäftsstelle (registry) or department in whose proceedings you worked as an interpreter. • Payment order The judge certifies your work as an interpreter at the hearing (Termin) and orders payment of the compensation. • Timely billing / application Your claim to compensation generally lapses if it is not asserted within a period of three months with the court or investigating authority that engaged you. The time limit begins • with the end of the hearing (Verhandlungstermin) or examination for which you were called in. • in the case of multiple engagements (e.g. for continuation hearings), with the end of the last hearing. If your engagement ends prematurely, the time limit begins as soon as you have been notified of the premature end.
