Motor vehicle - Re-registration of a vehicle deregistered for more than 7 years

• Your vehicle has been out of service (deregistered) for more than 7 years. • All vehicle registration documents must be available in the original and must be presented (§ 16 Para. 2 FZV). If you are not in possession of the vehicle documents, you must prove your right of disposal over the vehicle. In this case, an affidavit in lieu of an oath (eidesstattliche Versicherung) must be submitted (§ 5 StVG in conjunction with § 27 VwVfG). This is subject to a fee. • If a certificate of scrapping (Verschrottungsnachweis) exists for the vehicle, re-registration under § 17 Para. 6 FZV is not permitted.

The fee is based on the Gebührenordnung für Maßnahmen im Straßenverkehr (fee schedule for road traffic measures), as amended, and amounts, in the most favorable case, to EUR 35.30. Please note that this fee may be higher depending on the individual case - this depends on the specific application submitted. The production of the license plates is not a service provided by the Kfz-Zulassungsbehörde Berlin (Berlin vehicle registration authority).
