Requirements
• Application
You receive the remuneration only upon application.
If you worked for the Landgericht Berlin (Berlin Regional Court), you can submit your written application by
• sending it by post to the Berechnungsstelle (calculation office) of the Landgericht Berlin,
• dropping it in the mailbox of the Berechnungsstelle,
• submitting it to the Geschäftsstelle (registry) or Kammer (chamber) in whose proceedings you worked as an interpreter.
• Payment order
The judge certifies your work as an interpreter at the hearing and orders payment of the remuneration.
• Timely billing or application
Your entitlement to remuneration generally lapses if it is not asserted with the court that engaged you within a period of three months.
The period begins
• with the conclusion of the hearing or examination for which you were called in,
• in the case of multiple engagements (e.g., continuation hearings), with the conclusion of the last hearing.
If your engagement ends prematurely, the period begins as soon as you have been notified of the early conclusion.
Documents you need
• Remuneration application and payment order (Vergütungsantrag und Auszahlungsauftrag)
After the appointment (Termin) at which you provided your services, the judge places the signed "Auszahlungsauftrag" (payment order; officially: HKR 174), which certifies your attendance, on file. Please submit a written application quoting the case reference number (Geschäftszeichen) of the proceedings.
• Proof of travel costs or other expenses incurred
Please provide proof of expenses incurred by means of the corresponding original receipts.
