Apply for a fishing licence (Angelkarte / Fischereierlaubnisvertrag)

Anyone who wants to fish in Berlin must carry two things in addition to fishing tackle: an Angelkarte (fishing permit contract) and a Fischereischein (fishing licence). Exceptions apply for foreign visiting anglers. An Angelkarte alone does not entitle you to fish in Berlin. Angelkarten (fishing permits) • can be issued for a maximum period of one year • are issued to a specific person and cannot be transferred to another person • are available for young people and adults • are available for different bodies of water and types of fish (predatory fish / coarse fish) • are available as a day permit, month permit, or year permit The Angelkarte states in which body of water you are permitted to fish. It is a contract with the holder of the fishing rights (Fischereirecht) or the leaseholder of that body of water, who thereby permits you to fish there. The Angelkarte contains conditions relating to the specific circumstances of the body of water in which you want to fish. The Angelkarte must be made out to the individual person and to one or more specifically designated bodies of water, and must contain precise details of fishing times, fishing tackle, and vessels. Keep a Fangbuch (catch log) and report your catches to the holders of the fishing rights (Fischereiberechtigte) at the end of the year. By doing so, you contribute to the conservation of fish stocks.
