Asbestos – applying for recognition of a low-emission procedure

Recognized low-emission procedures are work procedures for activities involving asbestos-containing materials that have been examined and recognized by the authorities, or by the providers of statutory accident insurance (Institut für Arbeitsschutz der deutschen gesetzlichen Unfallversicherung — IFA — Institute for Occupational Safety and Health of the German Statutory Accident Insurance), and that demonstrably fall within the low-risk range. The basis for this examination is the evaluation criteria set out by the Institut für Arbeitsschutz der Deutschen Gesetzlichen Unfallversicherung (IFA). Recognition of a low-emission procedure is granted for a period of a maximum of 6 years, and, where applicable, granted subject to conditions and subject to revocation. Process • Submit an informal application for recognition of a low-emission procedure, with all documents required for this, to the Baureferat (construction department) of the LAGetSi. You can do this in writing by post or by email. • The LAGetSi checks your documents and, if necessary, requests further information or documents. We reserve the right to arrange an appointment (Termin) with you at the construction site or the business premises to assess the procedure and the associated technology. • The LAGetSi issues a decision either granting or refusing recognition.
