Requirements

Documents you need

• Passport or identity card (Personalausweis) Of the person making the declaration. • Birth certificate Showing the use of multiple first names. Who is responsible

• The declaration can be submitted at the Standesamt (registry office) of your place of residence. The declaration of name becomes effective at the German Standesamt where the birth of the person making the declaration was registered and which keeps the register of births. • If the birth was not registered in a German register, the Standesamt responsible is the one that keeps the register of marriages or civil partnerships for the person concerned. • If this register also does not exist either, the Standesamt of the place of residence is responsible.
