First State Examination in Law - apply for admission to the state compulsory subjects examination

• Registration deadline Registration for the state mandatory subject examination (Pflichtfachprüfung) is possible twice a year. • Registration for the autumn 2026 campaign: 04.05.-12.06.2026 • Registration for the spring 2027 campaign: 02.11.-11.12.2026 • Study of law at a university in the Federal Republic of Germany, lasting at least two years • Enrollment (Immatrikulation) at a university in Berlin or Brandenburg in two semesters preceding the application, at a university in the states (Länder) of Brandenburg or Berlin, in the subject of law (Freie Universität, Humboldt-Universität, Universität Potsdam, Europa-Universität, Business & Law School) • A passed intermediate examination (Zwischenprüfung) in accordance with the applicable intermediate examination regulations (Zwischenprüfungsordnung) of the law faculty of a university in the Federal Republic of Germany • Participation in courses After passing the intermediate examination, successful participation in university courses with assessments (Leistungskontrollen) in civil law (Bürgerliches Recht), criminal law (Strafrecht) and public law (Öffentliches Recht). • Participation in a foundational subject of law Successful participation in a university course with assessment in a foundational subject (Grundlagenfach) of law. • Proof from the university of the acquisition of key qualifications (Schlüsselqualifikationen) www.gesetze-im-internet.de/drig/__5a.html • Three-month practical study period in Germany or abroad (exemption possible) In special cases, an exemption from the admission requirement to complete a three-month practical study period is possible. • Passed university specialization examination (Schwerpunktbereichsprüfung) Please note that the university specialization examination falls within the university's responsibility (Zuständigkeit) and is prepared and conducted by it. • For the application for admission to grade improvement (Notenverbesserung): the written and/or oral mandatory subject examination was passed on the voluntary early attempt (Freiversuch) • For the application for admission to a repeat attempt (Wiederholungsversuch): the written and/or oral mandatory subject examination was not passed on the first attempt

• Application for admission to the Pflichtfachprüfung (compulsory subjects examination) Submit the application online or use the form • For online applications: Even if you submit the application for admission online, you must then print out the online application, sign it, and send it together with the original documents by post to the Prüfungsamt (examination office). Electronic registration alone is not sufficient. • For written applications: Submit the application by post with the original documents. • Curriculum vitae (signed) with photograph • Proof of total university semesters and subject-specific semesters (original) • Certificates of academic achievement (original) • Proof of internship (original) • Certificate of the university's Schwerpunktbereichsprüfung (specialization area examination) (original and copy) • If applicable, proof of an extension of the registration deadline • If applicable, proof of recognition of achievements obtained elsewhere • If applicable, personal statements regarding previous examination attempts If you are applying for admission to a resit or for grade improvement • If applicable, application for exemption from the admission requirement of completing a three-month practical study period
