Fisheries - Apply for the use of non-native and non-indigenous species in aquaculture

If you keep an aquaculture business and intend to introduce non-native fish species or relocate non-indigenous species, you need a permit (Genehmigung). You can also submit a single application covering several introductions or relocations over a period of up to seven years. Some species are exempt from the permit requirement. A list can be found under "Rechtsgrundlagen" (legal basis). Process: 1. You submit a written application for introduction/relocation to the competent authority (zuständige Behörde). • The application must be submitted before you introduce the non-native species or relocate the non-indigenous species. • You also submit all information and documents required under Annex 1 of the guidelines. 2. The authority examines your application and decides whether it is a routine or non-routine procedure. • Depending on the decision, further circumstances/environmental factors are examined. • Permits can only be granted if a risk assessment, including any risk mitigation measures, shows a low environmental risk. 3. You receive a decision (Bescheid).
