Fishing - Apply for an exemption permit under the Fischereiverordnung (Fisheries Regulation)

If you want to fish during closed seasons (Schonzeiten), for example, you need an exemption permit (Ausnahmegenehmigung). This allows you to fish during closed seasons or to catch undersized fish. The exemption permits do not replace the required permissions under private law for fishing. This also applies for fisheries research purposes. Process 1. Submit an application for an exemption permit to the untere Fischereibehörde (lower fisheries authority). • You must give written reasons for why and for what purpose you need an exemption permit. 2. The lower fisheries authority examines your application. • For fish species protected all year round, the untere Naturschutzbehörde (lower nature conservation authority) is involved. 3. The authority sends you the approval or rejection of the application. • The exemptions may be issued subject to ancillary provisions (Nebenbestimmungen) if significant effects on flora or fauna on or in the water, or significant impairment of fishing, are to be feared.
