Requirements

• (Impending) homelessness • You have no way of obtaining accommodation yourself by reasonable means (the so-called Vorrang der Selbsthilfe – priority of self-help) • Group of persons covered For persons who are applying for, or have already been granted, a residence permit (Aufenthaltstitel) under §§ 22 to 24 AufenthG (Aufenthaltsgesetz – Residence Act), and for other persons for whom the LAF (Landesamt für Flüchtlingsangelegenheiten – State Office for Refugee Affairs) is responsible for providing accommodation under public order law. You are a foreign national and meet certain residence-law requirements: • Residence permit (Aufenthaltserlaubnis) under § 22 AufenthG • Residence permit (Aufenthaltserlaubnis) under § 23 (1) AufenthG (admission of groups of persons) • Residence permit (Aufenthaltserlaubnis) under § 24 AufenthG (temporary protection in the event of a mass influx under EC Directive 01/55/EC) • Persons within the meaning of § 15a AufenthG who are assigned to standard accommodation (Regelunterkunft)

Documents you need

• Identity and residence documents • Valid residence permit (Aufenthaltstitel) with supplementary sheet (Zusatzblatt) or a Duldung (temporary suspension of deportation) • If applicable, confirmation of an application to the Landesamt für Einwanderung (LEA, State Office for Immigration), residence permit under § 24 Aufenthaltsgesetz (Residence Act) (often issued in A4 format and valid together with the national passport), or a corresponding Fiktionsbescheinigung (fiction certificate) (for Ukrainian nationals and persons from third countries who previously lived in Ukraine) • If applicable, Deutscher Reiseausweis für Ausländer (German travel document for foreigners) (blue or grey)
