Who is responsible

For the determination of equivalence in an unlicensed skilled trade (zulassungsfreies Handwerksberuf) or craft-related trade, the Handwerkskammer Berlin (Berlin Chamber of Crafts) is responsible if the intended activity is to take place in Berlin. The Handwerkskammer will advise you even before you submit your application and will identify the appropriate trade for you. The Handwerkskammer will inform you which documents you must submit in original form, or as a certified or simple copy with German translation.
