Requirements
• Measuring devices in taxis and hire cars can only be calibrated if they meet the essential requirements of the Measurement and Calibration Ordinance.
• The measuring device must fulfil at least one of the following conditions
• Type approval of the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt
• For EC type approval: Type approval from a European approval authority
• Conformity assessment according to national regulations, European Measuring Instruments Directive
Documents you need
• Application for calibration of the taximeter or odometer
You can submit the application online.
• Registration certificate part 1 in original
• Proof of the permissible tyre size (by means of registration certificate part 1 or CoC document)
• Extract from the licence approval certificate
Fees
The fees charged for the calibration of meters in taxis and hire cars are regulated nationwide and depend on the type of meter in question.
