Requirements

• Applications are possible from 22.07.2026 to 01.10.2026. The application deadline ends on 01.10.2026 at 11:00. Online applications must be received by 11:00. From 11:00 onward, submission is no longer possible; any transmission already in progress will then be automatically cancelled. • You are a professional filmmaker (woman or TIN person) You have completed your artistic training and/or can provide evidence of several years of work as a filmmaker. A completed, published film is a prerequisite for applying. • You live and work in Berlin • Only one application per applicant is possible. • A repeat application with a project that has already been submitted in previous years is possible • You apply as an individual or as a group A scholarship (Stipendium) is a grant awarded to individuals. For this reason, only natural persons, associations of natural persons, and GbRs (partnerships under civil law) consisting of natural persons are eligible legal forms to apply. The group confirms the association of artists (women and TIN persons) through a joint declaration. If a GbR agreement already exists for the entire group, it must be submitted together with the application. For groups, more than 50% of the group's members must be registered with their primary residence in Berlin (for a group of two people, this means both applicants; for groups of 3 people, at least 2 applicants, etc.). The person submitting the application on behalf of the group must be registered with their primary residence in Berlin. • The scholarship may only be applied for artistic films The scholarship may be applied for artistic film projects of any category, genre, or length, but not for image or campaign films, or films made as part of political education work or socio-cultural work. • The project to be realized must be presentable in a cinema context The realization of pure video installations is not funded; please refer to the other calls for applications in the Visual Arts (Bildende Kunst) category for this. • Double funding/simultaneous funding or scholarships An application for the Arbeitsstipendium (working scholarship) of the State of Berlin is also possible if you are also applying for scholarships from other funding bodies. If such an application is approved, immediate notification must be given so that it can be checked whether the State of Berlin's scholarship and the scholarship from another funding body can be combined. Scholarships already approved for the year 2027 must be stated on the application form. The working scholarship can be combined with other scholarships from the State of Berlin up to an amount of 24,000 euros per year. • No enrollment or employment as a professor at a university Applicants must not be enrolled (this also applies to doctoral studies) or employed as a professor (including visiting professorships) at a university, either at the time of application or during the funding period. • After the end of the scholarship, a factual report/evaluation form (Sachbericht/Evaluierungsbogen) must be completed.

Brief summary and description of the aesthetic approach. • What is distinctive about your artistic work? Why is the application important to you at this particular time? • Describe the status of your work project and which work steps are planned for the grant period. • In your project description, please also address how you intend to reach the public, in what contexts the finished film is to be shown, and to what extent cooperation partners will be involved. • (Optional) List of the main project participants of the work project (non-binding recommendation: maximum 2 DIN A4 pages) Please note the type of involvement in each case. • Links to film/video works (non-binding recommendation: maximum 3 DIN A4 pages) Reference to your own artistic film work; up to a maximum of three complete films may be referenced by link. Any film length and any genre is permitted. Please ensure that the links remain accessible through the end of January 2027. • (Optional) Additional documents (maximum 5 MB, PDF file) e.g. letters of recommendation, cooperation agreements, etc. • Proof of identity, proof of Berlin registration address (Meldeadresse) and proof of residence permit (Aufenthaltserlaubnis) (JPG, PNG, PDF file) This proof must be provided by the applicant and, in the case of a group application, by all members of the group. • For citizens with German citizenship: copy of the identity card (Personalausweis) (front and back) • For citizens from EU countries: copy of the identity card (front and back) or copy of the passport AND registration certificate (Meldebestätigung) (see "Further information") • For citizens from non-EU countries with a residence permit card (Aufenthaltstitelkarte): the residence permit card (front and back) counts as an identity document and as a registration certificate, as well as proof of valid residence permit. • Citizens from non-EU countries without a residence permit card: copy of a valid identity card (front and back) or passport AND copy of the registration certificate (Meldebescheinigung) (see "Further information") AND copy of the valid residence permit or the certificate of right of residence (front and back) • For group applications, the proof must be uploaded for each person. • Only for group applications (but mandatory in that case): GbR (partnership under civil law) agreement, if a GbR already exists, or declaration on the formation of an association of artists with the signature of all group members (max. 2 MB, PDF file): The declaration must be signed by all participating applicants – just as the registration address must be proven for all group members.
