Fahrlehrerlaubnis (driving instructor license) - apply for seminar license (Seminarerlaubnis) (ASF)

If you, as a Fahrlehrer/-in (driving instructor), want to conduct Aufbauseminare (advanced seminars) for Fahranfänger/-innen (novice drivers), you need a seminar permit (Seminarerlaubnis ASF). The training for ASF seminar leaders (Seminarleiter ASF) consists of a basic course focusing on the introduction to moderation techniques, followed by a program-specific course on the content and objectives of an advanced seminar for novice drivers (ASF). The basic course applies equally to ASF and FES and therefore only needs to be attended once. For the subsequent advanced seminar, both the driving school owner (Fahrschulinhaber/-in) and the driving instructor (Fahrlehrer/-in) must hold the corresponding Seminarerlaubnis. The Seminarerlaubnis may only be used in conjunction with the driving school license (Fahrschulerlaubnis) or as part of an employment relationship with a driving school whose owner or the responsible head of the training operation also holds a Seminarerlaubnis. Further training (Fortbildung) must be attended every 2 years. This is a 1-day training course of at least 8 teaching units of 45 minutes each, in which the content and methods of conducting the seminar are taught. Procedure • Apply for the issuance of a Seminarerlaubnis (ASF) in writing, by post or by email. • The responsible department reviews your application and will contact you if there are any questions. • You will receive the decision notice (Bescheid) and the fee notice (Gebührenbescheid) for your application by letter, by post.
