Fahrlehrerlaubnis (driving instructor licence) - Apply for an Extension

• Proof of mental, physical, professional and pedagogical fitness must be provided. • There must be no facts that would make the applicant appear unreliable for the driving instructor profession. • At least 2 years holding a driving licence (Fahrerlaubnis) of the class to be extended - A2, CE or DE

• Application for extension of a Fahrlehrerlaubnis (driving instructor's licence) You can submit the application in writing by post, or send the application by email to [email protected]. • Proof of identity for example identity card or passport with Meldebescheinigung (registration certificate) (see "Further information") • Original and copy of the card-format driving licence issued after 1 January 1999, or a certified copy • Extended certificate of good conduct (erweitertes Führungszeugnis) service.berlin.de/dienstleistung/120926/ (must not be older than 3 months at the time of application; please state as the authority: Landesamt für Bürger- und Ordnungsangelegenheiten [State Office for Citizens' and Regulatory Affairs] Referat Fahrerlaubnisse, Personen- und Güterbeförderung and as the purpose: IV D 11 HSB Fahrschulerlaubnis, or alternatively use the form "Anschreiben Führungszeugnis" [cover letter for certificate of good conduct]) • For class A: proof that you have held driving licence class A2 for at least two years • For class CE / DE: proof that you have held driving licence class CE / DE for at least two years -or- at least 6 months of driving practice if you have driven vehicles of class CE / DE professionally as your main occupation -or- have undergone, after obtaining driving licence class CE / DE, additional training at a driving school comprising 60 driving lessons of 45 minutes each on vehicles of class CE / DE • For class CE / DE: certificate from an officially recognised driving instructor training establishment confirming successful participation in a driving instructor course for the above-mentioned class (§ 2 para. 1 no. 8, § 4 para. 1 no. 7 FahrlG [Driving Instructor Act]) (must be submitted at the latest upon completion of the training)

The Fahrlehrerprüfung (driving instructor examination) is conducted by a specially established Prüfungsausschuss (examination board). Examination fees are charged separately for each part of the driving instructor examination.
