Requirements

• Applications are possible from 20.01.2026 to 11.03.2026. The application deadline ends on 11.03.2026 at 3:00 p.m. Online applications must be received by 3:00 p.m. After 3:00 p.m. submission is no longer possible; any transmission already in progress will then be automatically aborted. • Only one application per person is possible Persons who applied for the Recherchestipendium (research grant) in the previous year may apply again. • The applicant must live and work in Berlin. The applicant must have completed an artistic education and/or be able to demonstrate several years of activity in the field of performing arts/dance. • Application in German • The application, with a short and a detailed description of the project, must be submitted in German. • The artistic CV with portfolio may also be written in English. • Applications are possible only for individuals. A grant is a support payment made to an individual person, so only natural persons may apply. Applications from groups/GbR (civil-law partnerships) are not possible. • Applications concerning a project in the field of film or television are not admitted. • Double funding/concurrent funding or grants • An application for the Arbeits- und Recherchestipendium (work and research grant) is possible even if you have applied for other grants. However, you must report it if you receive a commitment for another grant, so that it can be checked whether the two can be combined. • The Arbeitsstipendium (work grant) can be combined with other grants from the State of Berlin up to a total amount of 24,000 euros per year. • Combinations with project funding are permitted. • No enrolment and no teaching activity as a professor at a university • At the time of application, applicants must not be enrolled at a university (including with the aim of obtaining a doctorate) or be employed as a professor at a university. • If studies were completed only a short time ago, proof of completion must be provided without being requested (please attach the certificate to the CV).

All required documents and evidence for upload must be submitted in PDF format. • Detailed description of the project (max. 2 MB, PDF file, max. 2 DIN A4 pages including cover sheet and images) Explain details of the artistic planning, treatment of the theme, concept idea, objective, participants, scope of research (workload), etc. • Artistic CV with portfolio (max. 10 MB, PDF file, max. 10 DIN A4 pages) Covering previous artistic work/completed projects of the last 3 years. References to online links to the works are permitted. • Proof of Berlin address and residence permit (Aufenthaltserlaubnis) • For citizens with German citizenship: copy of a valid identity card (Personalausweis) (front and back). • For citizens from EU countries: copy of a valid identity card or passport and copy of the registration confirmation (Meldebestätigung) from the residents' registration office (Einwohnermeldeamt). • For citizens from non-EU countries with a residence permit card (Aufenthaltstitelkarte): the residence permit card serves as both identity document and registration confirmation. Please upload the relevant page showing the Berlin address. If the reverse side states "see supplementary sheet" (siehe Zusatzblatt) under employment, please upload this as well. • For citizens from non-EU countries without a residence permit card: copy of a valid identity card or passport and copy of the registration confirmation from the residents' registration office and copy of the valid residence permit (Aufenthaltstitel) or the certificate of right of residence (front and back). Note: if no valid residence permit is held during the period of application and the grant, no grant will be awarded.
