• Equivalence of your professional qualification The equivalence assessment determines to what extent your training certificates meet the requirements for entry in the Architektenliste (register of architects). • Place of work Berlin Your registered residence (Meldewohnsitz) or your place of business must be in Berlin, or your main place of employment must be located in Berlin. • Personal suitability There must be no reasons that speak against entry in the Architektenliste (e.g. professionally relevant prior convictions). • Professional liability insurance If entry is made with the addition "freischaffend" (self-employed/freelance), proof of professional liability insurance must be provided. • Translations of your documents, if applicable If your documents are not in German, you must submit German translations of your documents. The translations must be made by translators who are publicly appointed or authorized (see "Further information"). • For online applications: registration/sign-up on the portal of the Architektenkammer Berlin (Berlin Chamber of Architects)

Application for entry in the Architektenliste (register of architects) in Berlin You can submit the application either online, or you can use the form and submit the application in writing by post. • When applying using the form, please note: for you, application variant 2.1 "Antrag gem. § 4 Absatz 1 ABKG (Ersteintragung)" [application pursuant to Section 4(1) ABKG (Architects' and Chartered Engineers' Chambers Act) (initial entry)] is required. Please follow the attachments listed there. Proof of two years of professional practice and proof of 70 units of continuing education are not required for you. • Geburtsurkunde (birth certificate, in copy) Please submit a copy of your birth certificate when you apply. • Proof of responsibility (Zuständigkeit) of the State of Berlin Please provide proof that you are registered (gemeldet) or professionally established in the State of Berlin (e.g. a Meldebescheinigung (registration certificate) for your residence, or a lease agreement for your place of business; alternatively, confirmation from your employer of your place of employment in the State of Berlin). • Proof of your professional qualification Please provide proof that you meet the requirements for entry in the Architektenliste (register of architects) (e.g. certificates, professional certificate). • Proof of the content and duration of your training Please provide proof of the content and duration of your training (e.g. Diploma Supplement, Transcript of Records); you can also submit proof of further training and certificates of professional practice. • If the use of the professional title is regulated by law in the country where you trained: confirmation of the professional requirements for access to the use of the professional title The confirmation for recognition of the professional qualification is issued in EU member states, or in states treated as equivalent under EU law, by competent authorities or contact points. Please submit a corresponding confirmation from your country of training. • If the use of the professional title is not regulated by law in the country where you trained: proof of at least one year of professional activity In addition to at least one year of activity in the professional duties of the field, you must hold one or more certificates of competence or training. • Führungszeugnis (certificate of good conduct) for submission to an authority service.berlin.de/dienstleistung/120926/ To verify personal suitability, an extract from the Bundeszentralregister (Federal Central Register) (Führungszeugnis / certificate of good conduct) for submission to an authority (Belegart O / document type O) is required. The extract must not be older than three months. • If applicable, a Zeugnisbewertung (certificate evaluation) from the Zentralstelle für ausländisches Bildungswesen (ZAB, Central Office for Foreign Education) zab.kmk.org/de/zeugnisbewertung The certificate evaluation describes your foreign higher education qualification and certifies the professional and academic purposes for which it may be used.
